Section 130 is inspired by the real-life experiences of sexual assault survivors who face the challenges of seeking justice within the legal system. This film commits to telling a story that explores how power can protect itself at the expense of truth, and how the voices of Black and Latina women are often erased within systems of justice. This film highlights the importance of memory, courage, and solidarity as acts of resistance, and shows that truth-telling is a powerful form of rebellion.

SECTION 130

Written by Catie Chan Produced by Jada Henry PRODUCER STATEMENT @MaggieThinksThat is a multiplatform TV show that begs the question - what kind of person falls for the alt-right algorithm? And how do you love them? In the creation of @MaggieThinksThat we look to engage the audience in the larger discussion surrounding social engagement and our susceptibility to pernicious influence in our desire to be wanted.

Life is like a game of rock, paper, scissors. One moment we’re solid as rock, the next as flimsy as paper, at other times sharp in our own perceptions. and action. Blu can’t seem to stop comparing her life to what’s around her. Her aspiration for a good life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is challenged by her relentless allegiance to presentation and perceptions from the outset. Her perspective is challenged when she comes across someone similar to her.

The Principles of Good Taste and Ornament
(2020)

Jada Henry’s debut novel, The Principles of Good Taste and Ornament, was released in July 2020. The novel follows societal prescriptions assigned to women in a thrilling tale. She wrote her novel to explore the expected functionality of the average woman in a misogynistic society that enables restrictive ideals. This story scratches the surface of what lies beneath the collective identity of what it should mean to be a woman versus what it actually is for each unique identity.

Whispers awash over manicured hedges as the familial dynamic of a seemingly blissful suburban household is tilted. Unravel the shadowed truths behind the Moore family in this thriller as a slice of the good life meets a slice of mystery.

This is an ornamental truth. Something terrible has happened in the Moore household. I heard she did it on purpose...”
Ann Moore, is a chiseled wife, mother, and hostess modeled as what every woman should yearn to be. She is pressured into perfection but shines like a diamond. She maneuvers a man's world strategically until one summer evening cracks the facade that is her reality. A new nanny, Stasia, is hired by the Moore family to assist the family following the inconspicuous incident. Stasia develops an instant admiration for Mrs. Moore, but soon becomes swept up in her mystique and what truly lies beneath. The Principles of Good Taste and Ornament scorches the blissful American Dream into a nightmare.

The Principles of Good Taste and Ornament is available for purchase on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

“Jada Henry is the voice of a new generation of women who leave no apologies and takes no prisoners. Her words ignite a fire inside you that women have felt since the beginning of time.” - Pei Ja Anderson, Author of Consequences of Flight

“The Principles of Good Taste and Ornament is a truthful and baring story with characters that every reader has ‘met’ at one point in their life or another. It is elegant and raw.” -Samantha Finley, Author of Shades

“I thought I'd retired my comically reflective tangents and (un)refined thoughts but it turns out I was just kidding. So, hear me out...”

So, Hear Me Out…largely functions as a perspective body of writing, but incoorporates a mix of media that frame my narrative.

Besides being a silly, goofy gal, I hope to create a community that offers fruitful artistry and support. I like to say that “my writing knows no bounds,” but I extend this narrative with the love that’s founded in my creative and personal ecosystem.

I hope to nourish others through my storytelling and be nourished by the storytellers I collaborate with.
