Pursuit of Perception

Life is like a game of rock, paper, scissors. One moment we’re solid as rock, the next as flimsy as paper, at other times sharp in our own perceptions. and action. Blu can’t seem to stop comparing her life to what’s around her. Her aspiration for a good life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is challenged by her relentless allegiance to presentation and perceptions from the outset. Her perspective is challenged when she comes across someone similar to her.

Literary Feature

Daughter Tongue’s first issue, Blood Ties, is about family and community. The families who have shaped us (chosen or not). It explores what grapples with the tangled complexities of what it means to be a daughter, sister, granddaughter, or anything in-between. The utter joy, exhaustion, elation, and anger that family can stoke within us. Works featured include:
